2nd Cavalry Regiment operates drones during Saber Strike 24 on Bemowo Piskie Training Ground, Poland, April 15, 2024. “I’m really happy to be out here to assist our NATO Allies and be able to implement what I learned in my Army career into this training exercise,” said U.S. Army Spc. Andrew Courtney, a network communication system specialist assigned to Charlie Troop. DEFENDER is the Dynamic Employment of Forces to Europe for NATO Deterrence and Enhanced Readiness, and is a U.S. European Command scheduled, U.S. Army Europe and Africa conducted exercise that consists of Saber Strike, Immediate Response, and Swift Response.
US 3rd Division Sustainment Brigade relinquishes mission in Poland, returns to Coastal Georgia

Soldiers of the 3rd Division Sustainment Brigade complete a nine-month deployment in support of V Corps in Europe, handing responsibility for their mission to their relief, the 1st Cavalry Division Sustainment Brigade, during a transfer of authority ceremony at Forward Operating Site Powidz on April 19. Elements of the brigade deployed last July as part of a regular rotation of forces to support the U.S. commitment to NATO allies and partners in Europe and to bolster security on the eastern flank of the alliance. The Soldiers supported multinational training and operations to build readiness for contingency response and to deter adversaries.

ALFS 2024 being held in Zambia, under the theme “Regional solutions to transnational problems”, is sponsored by the U.S. Army Chief of Staff, co-hosted by the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) and the Zambia Army. ALFS 2024 brings together senior leaders from across Africa and other partner nations, April 22-26 in Livingstone, Zambia, to solidify relationships, exchange information on current topics of mutual interest and encourage cooperation in addressing challenges.

Southern African Development Community (SADC) 2024 - Chaplain

During a Southern African Development Community (SADC) event in Lusaka, Zambia, held April 5-12, 2024, the Zambian Defence Force welcomed U.S. military chaplains from various units, including the U.S. Africa Command, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), U.S. Air Forces Africa (AFAF), North Carolina Army National Guard, and New York Army National Guard. Led by U.S. Army Chaplain Karen Meeker, Command Chaplain, the workshop aimed to enhance spiritual readiness for military personnel and their families while deepening relationships with chaplains from Zambia and neighboring countries. This collaborative effort marks a significant milestone in international cooperation and understanding.
The Zambian Defence Force invited U.S. military chaplains from the U.S. Africa Command, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), U.S. Air Forces Africa (AFAF), North Carolina and New York Army National Guards to participate in a five-day Southern African Development Community event in Lusaka, Zambia. The workshop aims to enhance spiritual readiness for military personnel and their families, sharing best practices, and deepening relations with Chaplains from Zambia, Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, and Democratic Republic of the Congo, marking a milestone in international cooperation and understanding.

The Summer Hire Program is an excellent opportunity to positively influence the youth in our community. It fosters good work ethics through experience and promoting responsibility in preparation for future education and career goals. It provides jobs in general clerical and light laborer positions to U.S. family member dependents ages 14-22.
