A Strategic Logistics Hub
The transit center at M.K. Air Base, designed and operated by a multinational, multi-service team of highly experienced and capable logistics, human resources and other support agency personnel, is focused on providing vital logistical, transportation, reintegration and morale and welfare services to America's returning warriors.
The base's mix of top-notch facilities and professional staff gives combatant commanders the critical through-put, transload, transportation and personnel services support that will ensure our war fighters return home quickly, safely and ready to reintegrate into their homes, units and communities, and the confidence that their units' equipment will move rapidly and efficiently into and out of multiple theaters.
The 21st Theater Sustainment Command's Regional Support Element concluded its M.K. Air Base mission in December 2014. Sustainment Task Force 16 assumed administrative, leadership and oversight functions. The Soldiers and civilians of the Black Sea Area Support Team continue to play a vital role in M.K. Air Base life support and base operations.
M.K. Air Base (MKAB) Passenger Transit center is located nearby outstanding port, road and rail as well as air facilities, and is ideally situated to accommodate multimodal operations into the future.
MKAB provides valuable support to host-national and multinational partners. It serves as an important hub for joint, combined and multinational training, U.S. antiterrorism operations and customs activities.
