1st Sgt. Philemon F. Jones
1st Sgt. Philemon F. Jones is a native of New York, and graduated from Arkport Central High School. He enlisted in the United States Army as an Abrams crewman in November 1997, and graduated One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, in February 1998.
1st Sgt. Jones has served in numerous positions from armor crewman to First Sergeant. He has been assigned to 2-72 Armor, Camp Casey, Korea; 1-33 Armor, Fort Lewis, Washington; 4-7 Cavalry, Camp Gary Owen, Korea; 5-20 Infantry, Fort Lewis, Washington; 1-37 Armor, Friedberg, Germany; 2-358 Armor, Fort Lewis, Washington; 1-18 Infantry, Fort Riley, Kansas; Maneuver Center of Excellence; 3-1 Cavalry, Fort Benning, Georgia; and the 7th Army NCO Academy, Grafenwoehr, Germany. 1st Sgt. Jones currently serves as the deputy commandant of the 7th Army Noncommissioned Officer Academy.
1st Sgt. Jones has deployed three times to Iraq in support of Operations Transition of Iraq, Iraqi Governance, National Resolution, Iraqi Surge and New Dawn.
1st Sgt. Jones’ military education includes the Basic Leader Course, Advance Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, M1A1 Master Gunner Course, MGS Master Gunner Course, Battle Staff Course, and Basic Airborne Course.
1st Sgt. Jones’ awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), Army Commendation Medal with Valor, Army Commendation Medal (9th Award), Army Achievement Medal (6th Award ), Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal (1 Star), Iraq Campaign Medal (3 Stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (1 Star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 3), Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 6). 1SG Jones is a member of the Order of Saint George, Bronze Award, and a recipient of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Award.
