What is Dynamic Front?
Dynamic Front 18 is a U.S. Army-led exercise focusing on the integration of joint fires and allied artillery interoperability at the Grafenwoehr Training Area (Germany), Feb. 23 - March 10, 2018. The exercise will feature approximately 3,700 participants from 26 allied and partner nations.
The Dynamic Front series is designed to develop the capabilities of U.S. and allied fires units to operate side-by-side, from identifying targets at a multinational, theater-level command to tactical units pulling lanyards in the field.
Exercise Dynamic Front II brought a U.S.-based division artillery unit to USAREUR to conduct effective mass fires among nine participating NATO nations.
The weather was cold and wet with gray skies as Archer and Cobra Battery, Field Artillery Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment stood by their guns to await fire missions.

During exercise Dynamic Front II, 7ATC invited four engineers from the Armaments Research, Development, and Engineering Center (ARDEC) to help evaluate the Army's artillery systems.
"We're here as the force field artillery headquarters," said Joe Hilbert, the commander of the 82nd Airborne Division Artillery from Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
