WHAT IS SABER GUARDIAN?
Exercise Saber Guardian 2016 will be held July 27-Aug. 7, 2016 at the Romanian Land Force Combat Training Center (RLF-CTC) in Cincu, Romania. This year approximately 2,700 personnel from 11 nations will participate.
This exercise is an annual multinational exercise that rotates among Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine. The exercise is part of U.S. European Command's Joint Exercise Program designed to enhance joint combined interoperability with allied and partner nations.
Saber Guardian is part of the U.S. Army Europe's annual training and exercise program and has been conducted since 2013.
Last year's exercise was combined with Exercise Rapid Trident and was held at the International Peacekeeping and Security Center near Yavoriv, Ukraine.

NOVO SELO TRAINING AREA, Bulgaria (April 8, 2014) -- After a week of scenario-driven, computer-based operations, Saber Guardian 2014 officially came to end, April 3. This year's exercise was designed to strengthen international agency and military partnering, and to foster trust while improving interoperability between NATO and partner nations involved in foreign humanitarian assistance operations with U.S. forces.
NOVO SELO TRAINING AREA, Bulgaria (April 1, 2014) -- Soldiers and civilians from the 7th Civil Support Command, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, along with hundreds of additional participants from the United States, Bulgaria and ten other NATO countries, officially marked the beginning of a multinational exercise designed to test the capabilities of allied nations in response to real-world emergencies, here, yesterday.
NOVO SELO, Bulgaria – Soldiers with the 7th Civil Support Command, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, along with service members and civilians from various other units throughout the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps, participated in a cultural day with soldiers from 11 partner nations prior to the official start of exercise Saber Guardian 14 March 28.
