Exercise Steadfast Jazz

WHAT IS STEADFAST JAZZ?

The United States fully supports the Steadfast series, which certifies NATO Readiness Force, or NRF, readiness to be able to defend any ally, deploy anywhere, and deal with any threat.

The upcoming Steadfast Jazz 13 exercise will feature 250 U.S. troops who will deploy for the first time to support the 2014 NATO Response Force. The assignment of the highly capable and deployable troops of U.S. Army Europe's forward deployed force, the 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), and European Command's regionally aligned force, 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division from Fort Hood, Texas, to support NRF operations and regular training demonstrates the strong commitment of the United States to European security.

At the same time, we have well more than 100,000 troops deployed under NATO command in Afghanistan, in Kosovo and at sea. Collectively, these forces represent the reinvigoration of U.S. participation in the NRF and the enduring U.S. commitment to NATO, Europe, and regional stability and prosperity.
