Command Sgt. Maj. Jimmy J. Sellers entered the United States Army August 1, 1990 from Columbus, Ga. He attended Basic and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
Sellers has served in the following duty positions and organizations: Supply Specialist and Unit Armor Headquarters, A Company, 296th Forward Support Battalion, Camp Edwards, Korea; Supply Sergeant, Special Operations Command, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 9th Psychological Operations Battalion (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C.; Drill Sergeant, B Company, 2nd Battalion, 60th Infantry Regiment, Fort Jackson, S.C.; Battalion S-4 NCOIC, 3rd Battalion 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, Fort Bragg, N.C.; Brigade S-4 NCOIC, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, Fort Bragg, N.C.; First Sergeant, Headquarters Alpha Company, 82nd Forward Support Battalion, Fort Bragg, N.C.. Brigade S4 Sergeant Major, 7th Signal Brigade, Mannheim Germany. He was then selected as the Command Sergeant Major, 21st Special Troops Battalion (STB), 21st Theater Sustainment Command, Kaiserslautern, Germany. Sellers also served as the Command Sergeant Major for the 173rd Airborne Brigade Support Battalion, Bamberg, Germany.
Sellers is a graduate of all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System, culminating with the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy class 56. He is a graduate of the Battle Staff Course, Drill Sergeant Course, Jumpmaster Course, Air Assault Course, Pathfinder Course, Equal Opportunity Representative Course and the First Sergeants Course as well as numerous other logistical-related courses. Command Sgt. Maj. Sellers has earned a Bachelors Degree from Trinity University and is currently pursuing his MBA with Tourou International University.
Sellers has deployed four times in support of the Global War on Terrorism. His combat tours include deployments to Operation Enduring Freedoms II, VIII and X, as well as Operation Iraqi Freedom II.
His military awards and decorations include The Bronze Star with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with three Oakl Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters; Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Medal (with bronze star); Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (with numeral 4),Overseas Service Ribbon (with numeral 2), Global War on Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the NATO Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award; the Valorous Unit Award, the Meritorious Unit Citation, Combat Action Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, Drivers Badge and the Ecuadorian Army Master Parachutist Badge.
Command Sgt. Maj. Sellers is also a member of the prestigious Sergeant Audie L. Murphy Club.
