170th IBCT Soldier dies in Bad Kreuznach hospital

BAUMHOLDER, Germany -- Second Lt. William Bird, 28, of Memphis, Tenn., died at Diakonie German hospital in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, Feb. 22.

Bird was assigned to 4th Battalion, 70th Armor Regiment, 170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team stationed in Baumholder, Germany.

No other details are available at this time. The cause of the incident is under investigation by U.S. officials.

A memorial service will be held in Baumholder, March 1 at 10:00 a.m.
