Williams selected as next U.S. Army Europe operations chief

HEIDELBERG, Germany -- The Chief of Staff of the Army announced that Brig. Gen. Darryl A. Williams, deputy commanding general for support, 2nd Infantry Division, Eighth U.S. Army, Republic of Korea, has been selected for assignment as U.S. Army Europe's deputy chief of staff for operations (G3).

Williams has served with the 2nd Infantry Division since July 2012. He served several previous tours with USAREUR: as effects coordinator for 1st Armored Division in Germany and deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2007-2009; as commander of 1st Armored Div. artillery from 2005-2007; as chief of the exercise division of Heaquarters USAREUR's operations directorate (G3) from 2004-2005; as a platoon leader and targeting officer for 3rd Infantry Division from 1986-1987; and as a reconnaissance and survey officer and fire direction officer for 3rd Infantry Div. from 1984-1986.

His arrival date in Europe is unknown at this time.
