HEIDELBERG, Germany -- Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn III recently issued a memorandum emphasizing the ethical responsibilities of all Department of Defense personnel.

The memo, dated Dec. 21, 2010, underscores the importance of avoiding any action that may give the appearance of unethical behavior.  The memo is available online by clicking here.

The Army has also begun a yearlong discussion of the profession of arms, which is described in a Jan. 10 edition of the Army’s STAND-TO!, that provides links to various resources and sites where Army Soldiers and civilian employees can participate in discussions about the profession of arms.  That edition is available by clicking here.  Extensive guidance on ethics issues is also available on the DoD Standards of Conduct Office website or from your local ethics counselor.
