Army in Europe Aviators win Aviator and Medic of the Year

HEIDELBERG, Germany --

Two individual Army in Europe Aviators and three crews have won DUSTOFF Association recognition for outstanding service in Afghanistan last year.

In an awards ceremony Feb. 12 in Panama City Beach, Fla., Chief warrant officer 3 Jason LaCrosse, was honored as the DUSTOFF Aviator of the Year, and Spc. Robert Chicvara received the DUSTOFF Medic of the Year award. Both Soldiers are from Charlie Company, 5th Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment, 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, based in Katterbach, Germany. 

The crews of DUSTOFF 84 and DUSTOFF 87 from Charlie Company, 5th Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment, 12th Combat Aviation Brigade and Black Magic 70 from Alpha Company, 5th Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment, 12th Combat Aviation Brigade were recognized by the Association for the outstanding rescue of the year.

The crews also received valor awards from the German Bundeswehr and the US Army for the rescue.

The DUSTOFF Association represents Army Aviators who fly medical evacuation missions.
