HEIDELBERG, Germany -- The U.S. Army in Europe announced the first G1 Frederick E. Vollrath Human Resources Award for Excellence Program winners Feb. 16.

The winners are:

  • Capt. Danielle K. Cork of the 172nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team
  • Chief Warrant Officer 2 Vincent G. Freeman of the 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Command
  • Sgt. 1st Class Willie Gordon III of the 66th Military Intelligence Brigade
  • Spc. Timothy J. Meyers of the 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Command
  • Ms. Vanessa Corigliano of the USAREUR Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff Engineer

The Vollrath program focuses on achievements in the human resources profession. Vollrath served his entire 35-year career in the adjutant general field and was only the second AG officer to be promoted to lieutenant general.

Vollrath is credited with the Army's use of the words 'human resources' rather than 'personnel.' He recommended this change while serving as the Army's deputy chief of staff of personnel.
