New deputy chief of staff for operations selected for U.S. Army Europe

HEIDELBERG, Germany -- The Chief of Staff of the Army has selected a new deputy chief of staff, G-3 for U.S. Army Europe, the U.S. Army announced today.

Brigadier General Michael A. Bills, is currently the commander, Joint Task Force-North, United States Northern Command, Fort Bliss, Texas.

Bills military career started in U.S. Army Europe Oct 84 when he was assigned as a platoon leader in 1st Armored Division.  In April 2000 he returned to Europe and 1st Armored Division to serve as a squadron commander.  His latest tour in Europe was in 2002 when he served as the senior Task Force Observer/Controller, Operations Group, Combat Maneuver Training Center, United States Army Europe and Seventh Army.  Bills also served a combat tour in Operation Desert Storm and two in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
