Exercise Saber Strike





WHAT IS SABER STRIKE?

Saber Strike is a long-standing U.S Army Europe-led cooperative training exercise conducted annually since 2010. The aim of the exercise is to improve the cooperation and capabilities of the participating nations for future contingency operations. This year’s exercise objectives facilitate cooperation amongst Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The exercise trains participants on command and control as well as interoperability with regional partners. The exercise will consist of Field and Situational Training Exercises conducted in Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, Joint Tactical Air Controller training in Estonia, and a Command Post Exercise conducted in Lithuania.

Saber Strike 15 features the integration of U.S. close air support with partner nation ground forces and a demonstration of U.S. air deployment of forces and equipment. All activities will feature joint, multinational training among the participating nations. The Saber Strike program facilitates cooperation between Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, the United States and participating nations to improve joint operational capability in a variety of missions, and prepares the participating nations and units to support multinational contingency operations around the world.

Seizing opportunities for partnership: US paratroopers train in Poland

SWIDWIN AIR BASE, Poland — Cascading to the ground, a company of airborne Soldiers prepared to assault and seize an airbase after jumping out of an Air Force C-130 aircraft. Upon reaching the ground, the paratroopers cleared the runway for a C-17 carrying three M1126 Stryker Combat Vehicles to land approximately 45 minutes after the first paratrooper exited the door.

Michigan National Guard participates in international training exercise

ADAZI, Latvia – Michigan National Guard Soldiers, Airmen and public affairs staff traveled to Latvia last week to participate in Saber Strike 15, a U.S. Army Europe-led cooperative training exercise that began in 2010. Saber Strike 2012 in the News

Saber Strike 2012 was a U.S. Army Europe-led, multinational exercise that ran June 10- 22, 2012, at multiple training areas in Estonia and Latvia. The exercise, which had approximately 2,000 participants, promoted regional stability and security, strengthened international military partnering and fostered trust while improving interoperability between participating nations. The nations participating in the exercise are the U.S., Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Canada, Finland, France and the United Kingdom.
