Brig. Gen. Ellen S. Clark is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. She assumed her position at U.S. Army Europe in October 2018.
Brig. Gen. Clark was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1988 as a second lieutenant in the Transportation Corps. She has held various logistics, operations, staff and command positions throughout her career. Most recently, as the Deputy Commanding General-Army Reserve and the Director of the Army Reserve Engagement Cell (AREC) of U.S. Army South at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Previously, she served as commander of the 598th Transportation Detachment, Waycross, Georgia; 319th Transportation Company commander, Augusta, Georgia; 349th Logistics Support Battalion S-3, Fort Stewart, Georgia; and 1186th Transportation Terminal Brigade terminal chief and cargo documentation chief, Jacksonville, Florida. In 2003 she served as the 598th Transportation Terminal Group Command operations officer in Rotterdam, Netherlands, in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom; and as terminal chief at the Port of Shuaiba, Kuwait. Brig. Gen. Clark was also assigned as the 257th Transportation Battalion S-3, Gainesville, Florida; Joint Task Force - Port Opening executive officer, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey; 257th Transportation Battalion commander, Gainesville, Florida; deputy for contracting with the Combined Joint Task Force -101, Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan; 321st Sustainment Brigade commander, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; 98th Training Division chief of staff, Fort Benning, Georgia; Battle Watch Captain and Division Chief in the Joint Operations Center, United States European Command in Stuttgart, Germany.
Brig. Gen. Clark earned her bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. She has a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College and is a U.S. Army Level III Certified Acquisition Professional.
Brig. Gen. Clark has also graduated from the: Transportation Officer Basic and Advanced Course; Combined Arms Services and Staff School; Associate Logistics Executive Development Course; Command and General Staff Officer Course; Advanced Operations and Warfighting Course; Joint Logistics Course and Advanced Joint Professional Military Education.
Her awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf clusters; Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal; Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with seven oak leaf clusters; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” device and bronze hour glass; Army Service Ribbon; Army Overseas Service Ribbon; Army Reserve Overseas Training Ribbon; and the NATO Medal.
