Brig. Gen. Jared Sembritzki

German Brig. Gen. Jared Sembritzki became the fourth multinational Chief of Staff at U.S. Army Europe in May 2020.

Prior to this assignment, Brig. Gen. Sembritzki served as the commander of the 23rd Mountain Infantry Brigade in Bad Reichenhall, Germany. 

He joined the Deutsches Heer (German army) in 1990 as a cadet at Infantry Battalion 67 in Breitenburg-Nordoe. Brig. Gen. Sembritzki has served in a variety of assignments and in deployment operations.

His other assignments include: operations and section chief operations and training, Special Forces Command, in Calw, Germany; section chief for Africa, South-East Europe and North America, at the Federal Ministry of Defense, in Berlin; commander of Mountain Infantry Battalion 231, in Bad Reichenhall; military assistant to the chief of defense, in Berlin; chief of staff of the 10th Armor Division, in Veitshoechheim, Germany; area chief Asia, Oceania and America at the Federal Ministry of Defense, in Berlin. 

Brig. Gen. Sembritzki earned his master’s degree in Sports from the Bundeswehr University in Munich. He also has a master’s degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College in Washington, D.C. 

Brig. Gen. Sembritzki’s deployments include: company commander, 3rd Task Force to Kosovo Force, Kosovo, 2001-2002; chief operations and deputy commander, Special Forces Detachment, International Security Assistance Force Afghanistan, 2006; and commander, Quick Reaction Force 5, ISAF Afghanistan, 2010.

His awards include the Bundeswehr Cross of Honor in silver, the Combat Action Medal and the Bundeswehr Cross of Honor for Valor.
